Redirecting Patients to the Emergency Room
Urgency Center or ER?
If you feel your condition could be life-threatening, call 911 or go to the Emergency Room immediately.
At any time during your visit, if your condition is life-threatening or requires more in-depth evaluation or treatment than we are able to provide at the Urgency Center, you may be sent to the Emergency Room.
Patients who register at the Urgency Center after 7:30 p.m. may be sent to the Emergency Room if it is determined that the evaluation and treatment of your illness or injury may not be completed by 9:30 p.m.
What is the Urgency Center?
The Urgency Center can treat a wide range of illnesses and injuries for which you might otherwise go to a hospital ER. We are staffed with highly trained physicians, physician assistants, nurse practitioners and nurses who are equipped with the latest medical technology to quickly and skillfully evaluate and treat your illness or injury.
How is the Urgency Center different than urgent care or the ER?
Access to advanced lab and imaging equipment allows us to treat more serious conditions that cannot be treated at an urgent care clinic.
The Urgency Center does not take ambulances, which allows us to see patients in a timely manner without having to delay services due to critical emergencies.
The Urgency Center is not attached to a hospital so this usually means the bill is less expensive than if you were seen in the Emergency Room.
* If your condition is life-threatening or requires more of an in-depth evaluation or treatment than we can provide in the Urgency Center, you may be sent to the Emergency Room.
What will it cost?
Typically, the cost to be seen in the Urgency Center is less than a visit to an Emergency Room, but more than a scheduled office visit with your family physician. Fees begin around $270 and may be more depending on the tests and treatments you need.
Most health plans are accepted, however, you do not need to have insurance to come to the Urgency Center. Since benefit plans vary, please check with your insurance company. After your visit is processed by your insurance company, a bill for the outstanding amount will be sent to you. All co-pays are due at the time of your visit. The Urgency Center accepts cash, personal checks, Visa®, MasterCard® and Discover® as payment options.
