Bathing Instructions
When taking a bath or shower the day before surgery, lather up a washcloth with half a bottle of the supplied chlorahexidine soap. Scrub your entire body with the soap, except your face and genital area, for ten minutes. Especially wash well the part of your body undergoing surgery. After scrubbing for ten minutes, shut the shower off or sit on the edge of the tub and let the soap sit for five minutes. After five minutes, rinse off the soap. If washing your hair, do so before using the soap. Do not use lotions, powders or deodorant after bathing. Repeat these same steps again the morning of surgery, using the remaining half bottle of soap. Doing so will help prevent post-surgery infections.
