Our multidisciplinary team works with you and your child to establish a plan that will allow your child to reach their fullest potential. As professionals specializing in pediatric rehabilitation, we understand the hopes and dreams you have for your child. It is our goal to minimize the amount of assistance needed so your child can spend more time “just being a kid.” St. Cloud Hospital outpatient rehabilitation, located at CentraCare Health Plaza, will help get your child back to their life.
Services
Feeding program
A feeding evaluation may be needed if mealtime is becoming frustrating or if your child has difficulty gaining weight, drinking from a bottle, or eating solid foods. It may also be necessary if your child has frequent coughing and gagging episodes or if your child is a picky eater. Speech therapists and occupational therapists work together to find the cause of your child’s difficulties and plan treatment strategies for your family.
Sensory-based occupational therapy
Sensory-based occupational therapy is a specialized treatment for children with sensory processing difficulties. These difficulties can be present in children with a variety of diagnoses as well as in typically developing children.
Serial casting
Serial casting is a non-invasive method of treating one or more joints that are either limited in range of motion or in poor functional alignment and impacting a child's ability to walk, play or complete other activities of daily living. This technique can be used to treat both the upper and lower extremities.
Torticollis & plagiocephaly
St. Cloud Hospital’s Pediatric Rehabilitation team works as part of the Cleft & Craniofacial Center – an affiliate of CentraCare Health to treat children with torticollis, plagiocephaly and other cranial asymmetries. We believe that each child is unique and deserves specialized and comprehensive care.
Constraint-induced movement therapy
Constraint-induced Movement Therapy (CIMT) is used to treat children who have significant weakness, and therefore limited functional use, of one of their extremities. It consists of: restraining the “strong” arm; facilitation and training of the “weaker” arm; intense therapy for an extended period of time.
Aquatic therapy
Aquatic therapy is specialized one-on-one treatment provided in a warm water therapy pool. What children are unable to do on land, they may be able to accomplish in the water by learning alternative ways to move. Children of all ages can benefit from the therapeutic properties of water which will aid them in becoming more independent both in and out of the water.
