Patient Instructions - Peripherally Inserted Central Catheter (PICC) Line
A PICC line is a central venous catheter used to administer IV medications, blood products or fluids. A PICC line may also be used for blood draws. PICC lines can stay in for months if needed. They are useful for long-term IV therapy such as chemotherapy or antibiotics. PICCs are frequently used for short-term IV therapy when venous access is difficult.
