After hospital discharge, patients return to their primary physician or are assigned to a physician who will provide follow-up care in a clinic setting.

What care can an adult hospitalist provide?

Adult hospitalists provide skilled medical care to their patients on a daily basis and are available for patient and family consultation 24 hours a day, seven days a week. They work collaboratively with the primary physician or other specialists as needed to ensure consistent care, and they keep the referring physician informed during the patient's hospital stay.
