Clinical Interests

As a clinician in Sexual Medicine, Joni is passionate about the sexual wellbeing of individuals and partners. She provides individual and couples counseling, medical evaluations and treatment, facilitates workshops for adults, and conducts continuing education for clinicians. Special interests include sexual wellness and cancer survivorship. Joni provides consultations for pre-treatment interventions, fertility preservation, maintaining intimacy during treatment, and strategies to manage long-term sexual side effects. Optimal sexuality in the Second Half (aging) is a favorite subject that Joni speaks regularly about. Sexual pain is a common yet rarely discussed problem that has profound impacts on sexuality. Her mind-body approach to pain disorders includes a multidisciplinary team, medical interventions, and talk therapy. Joni is a member of the Gender Medicine care team, providing primary care and hormone therapy.
