St. Cloud Hospital offers inpatient mental health services (for individuals 10 years of age and older) for people who are unable to care for themselves or who are at risk of hurting themselves or others.

Hospitalizations are brief, with discharge planning beginning at admission. Our treatment team, directed by a psychiatrist, works with patients and families to establish priorities that will increase their ability to function and, ultimately, return them to the community to work with outpatient providers.

Our treatment team includes psychiatrists, psychologists, registered nurses, social workers, chemical dependency counselors, program facilitators, mental health associates, art therapist, special education teacher, recreation therapist and activities therapist.

St. Cloud Hospital nationally recognized

Optum.Platinum14

St. Cloud Hospital has been awarded Platinum designation by Optum, formerly known as United Behavioral Health, for the remarkable care provided to mental health inpatients. The Platinum designation is the highest level of achievement given by Optum. Of more than 500 facilities participating in the clinical quality program, St. Cloud Hospital was one of 80 nationwide and the only hospital in Minnesota awarded at the Platinum level.

Platinum distinction by Optum shows we’ve demonstrated: shorter stay (without compromising outcomes), lower cost, better care with less practice variability, better follow up rates that lessen the chance of relapse and fewer readmissions. Learn more
