Admitting a Patient
Patients can be admitted to CentraCare Health – Monticello’s Geriatric Behavioral Health Unit from care centers, assisted living facilities, memory care units, primary physicians and emergency rooms. We also engage with post-acute facilities to allow for optimal discharge planning and to ensure continuity in care.
Admitting criteria considerations include:
- Patients 55 years or older
- Psychiatric disorders
- Dementia diagnosis with behavioral disturbance
- Recent suicide attempt
- Danger to self or others
A Safe Environment
CentraCare Health – Monticello’s Geriatric Behavioral Health Unit provides a confidential and safe environment for patients to receive care. The 10-bed, locked unit is equipped with appropriate safety requirements, professionally trained staff, and around-the-clock video surveillance.

Visiting Friends and Family
CentraCare Health – Monticello’s Geriatric Behavioral Health Unit understands that the support of family can increase positive outcomes for patients. We encourage family and friends to participate in their loved one’s care and offer convenient visiting hours to encourage healing through socialization. For the safety of our visitors, staff and patients, please consult your loved one’s admitting packet to learn more about items that are allowed and not allowed on the Geriatric Behavioral Health Unit.
Daily Visiting Hours
Noon – 1 p.m.
5 – 7 p.m.
