Consultation with a Sleep Specialist
Helping people with sleep problems is not limited to running sleep tests. The Sleep Center has board-certified Sleep Medicine physicians on staff whose job is to listen to a patient's story, examine them, then determine which sleep test is appropriate. All patients are seen at least once by a sleep specialist, and in many cases we provide long-term management. A consultation can be ordered by your care provider, or you can contact the Sleep Center directly to arrange for an appointment with a sleep specialist.
Polysomnogram or Overnight Sleep Study
A polysomnogram, or overnight sleep study, is the most common sleep test, and the gold standard for diagnosing sleep apnea. The patient is monitored in the sleep lab overnight for problems with breathing, heart rhythms, body movements and sleep quality. We provide this test for adults and children over the age of 5. Polysomnography is ordered by a health provider, either your primary clinician or a Sleep Center physician.
