Long Prairie medical campus open house a huge success
By all accounts, the open house for the CentraCare Health – Long Prairie medical campus was a huge success. On Monday, Oct. 9 more than 900 people attended the ribbon cutting ceremony and open house for the $30.8 million 65,000-square-foot medical campus. This opening is a culmination of two years of fundraising and 16 months of construction.
More than 100,000 hours of craftworker time was needed to complete the project; 300,000 cubic yards of Earth was moved to prepare the site; and the construction contains more than 20 miles of wire.
“We have been on an incredible journey over the past four years. I am so proud of our staff and grateful to our partners for the time invested in the design of this facility. It will not only suit the needs of the community today, but well into the future, said Dan Swenson, administrator. “This project, in addition to the new Meadow Place assisted living, is truly transformational for the future of Long Prairie. Our dream is now our reality.”
“This is our hospital, built for our community, impacting our future health care. CentraCare Health – Long Prairie has helped and healed families for generations and we will continue to do so for many years to come,” said Tom Sellnow, chair of our capital campaign steering committee. “A remarkable part of the opening of this facility has been the support of the greater Long Prairie community. We had a $2 million ‘Building a Healthy Community’ capital campaign goal which we surpassed in 2016. This would not have been possible without the generosity of so many people in our community. To date, 513 donors have pledged $2.55 million.”
Patients will be transferred to the new facility on Saturday, Oct. 14 and the clinic will open on Monday, Oct. 16.
