CentraCare Health saddened by loss of Mae Ellingson-Skalicky

CentraCare Health is saddened by the loss of long-time community supporter and youth advocate Mae Ellingson-Skalicky. Mae was deeply committed to the health and well-being of children and it was through her generous gift to the CentraCare Health Foundation that Clara’s House opened in 2004.

Clara’s House, named in honor of Mae’s mother Clara, is a home-away-from-home for children and families seeking recovery and healing from chemical addiction and mental health issues.

“She was dedicated to children and to building hope,” said Brad Konkler, Vice President of Philanthropy for the CentraCare Health Foundation. “Her generosity was instrumental in impacting our young patients and families. Drawing from her personal journey, she was passionate about giving a new voice to childhood recovery and removing the stigma carried with mental illness. She was dedicated to building hope.”

Mae inspired others to join her in support of Clara’s House and in 2010, another generous gift allowed for the development of middle school education programs and enhanced therapeutic arts programs.

In 2015, Mae Ellingson-Skalicky received the CentraCare Health Foundation Lifetime Achievement Award.
