St. Cloud Pride weekend begins with ‘Philadelphia’ movie showing

The feature film “Philadelphia” will be shown at 5:30 p.m. on September 15 in the St. Cloud Hospital Hoppe Auditorium in honor of St. Cloud Pride weekend.

Tom Hanks stars in his first Academy Award-winning performance. Hanks plays a talented, homosexual lawyer, Andrew Beckett, who has contracted AIDS, thus resulting in him being fired. He hires a black lawyer, Joe Miller (Denzel Washington), to fight against this discrimination in court. Miller is reluctant at first, as he dislikes homosexuals, but soon realizes the discrimination practiced against Beckett is similar to the discrimination Miller battles himself.

This is a free event and free popcorn will be available. A door prize drawing will occur immediately after the film for two movie tickets to Parkwood 18; you must be present to win.

St. Cloud Pride weekend will take place September 16-18, 2016.
