CentraCare Health – Monticello’s Birth Center Receives Minnesota Hospital Association Grant

CentraCare Health MonticelloCentraCare Health – Monticello’s Birth Center has been awarded a grant from the Minnesota Hospital Association (MHA) as part of the MHA’s Perinatal Safety Roadmap program. The program looks at organizations committed to continuous improvements in obstetric care. Funds from the grant will be used to purchase a state-of-the-art simulation doll to provide continuous obstetric education at CentraCare Health – Monticello.

“Receiving this grant is an honor for us,” said Hannah Whalen, RN, Birth Center Manager at CentraCare Health – Monticello. “The simulation doll is a life-like representation of a pregnant woman and baby and is programmed by a computer. Through programming, the doll can create a variety of emergency situations that could take place for both mom and baby. Owning this simulation doll will provide us with the opportunity to continuously train for unexpected situations during labor and delivery and offer the most highly-skilled care for our patients.”

As part of the grant, CentraCare Health – Monticello’s Birth Center will share outcomes from the simulation doll education with the MHA to improve the quality of obstetric care throughout Minnesota. By participating in the MHA’s Perinatal Safety Roadmap program, CentraCare Health – Monticello demonstrates its commitment to the health of our community.
