St. Benedict’s Senior Community Receives Donation from 8-year-old Iowa Girl

I am very proud of Emmalee, but I am even more thankful for the amazing staff at St. Benedict’s Senior Community that cared for my grandma during her last few weeks of life. ~ Rhea TheisenSt. Cloud, Minn. — St. Benedict’s Senior Community – St. Cloud received a check from 8-year-old Emmalee Theisen, who made a journey October 10, 2015 from Jesup, Iowa, to St. Cloud with a donation from the heart.

Emmalee recently celebrated her eighth birthday with her late great-grandmother, Beverly VanderEyk, in mind. In lieu of presents, she asked guests to bring a donation to be used as a memorial to honor her great-grandmother, a former resident at St. Benedict’s Senior Community.

The generous gift of $225 will pay for plants next spring in St. Benedict’s Senior Community raised flower gardens, which provide many residents a connection to nature and offer a place to nurture their bodies, minds and spirits. “It’s true; donations from the heart come in all shapes and sizes. Emmalee’s thoughtful gift will bring so much joy to our residents and patients this spring,” said Luan Knoll, director of Fund Development for St. Benedict’s Senior Community.
