March of Dimes Recognizes CentraCare Health – Monticello for Giving Babies a Healthy Start
CentraCare Health – Monticello has been recognized by the March of Dimes for reducing elective inductions and Cesarean deliveries performed before 39 weeks of pregnancy. During the last weeks of pregnancy, a baby’s vital organs are still developing. Babies delivered before 39 to 41 weeks are at increased risk of serious health problems. By reducing early elective deliveries, CentraCare Health – Monticello is supporting healthier beginnings for babies.
“We are honored to receive this recognition from the March of Dimes,” said Hannah Whalen, RN, Birth Center Manager at CentraCare Health – Monticello. “Our team of physicians and nurses has worked collaboratively to provide the best quality care for our mothers and their babies. We have aligned our practice with the Minnesota Hospital Association and the Perinatal Patient Safety Roadmap to provide a framework of how to reduce early elective deliveries in an effort to provide the healthiest start for every baby born at the Birth Center. We are proud of our accomplishment of zero early elective deliveries in the past year.”
Recognition from the March of Dimes demonstrates CentraCare Health – Monticello’s commitment to continuous improvement and enhanced care in order to support a healthier community.
