St. Cloud Hospital Breaks Ground on Gorecki Guest House Addition

St. Cloud, Minn. – The St. Cloud Hospital Gorecki Guest House broke ground on the 5,761-square foot Gorecki Family addition April 20. The construction project will add 16 bedrooms, a laundry room, two family suites and a meditation room. Local construction company Alliance Building Corporation was selected for the project. Anticipated completion is six months.

A generous gift by Benedict and Dorothy Gorecki helped make the addition a reality. Their lead $1-million donation in 2008 helped build the current guest house which bears their name.

Conveniently located across the street from the St. Cloud Hospital, the Gorecki Guest House welcomes patients and family members who are receiving medical care in the St. Cloud community. The house offers a comfortable, homelike atmosphere that allows families the opportunity to stay close to their loved ones.

Benefits of expansion:

  • Serve more families in need and have the ability to accommodate families immediately upon request.
  • Extend registration hours to accommodate families who arrive later in the evening.

Since opening June 15, 2009, more than 11,250 guests have stayed at the Guest House. The house has maintained an 87 percent occupancy since June 2012. The number of families unable to be accommodated each month continues to increase.
