CentraCare Goes Local, Hosts Farmers Market
St. Cloud, Minn. – As competitors devise expansion strategies, CentraCare is going…local?
June through October, local vendors will offer everything from fresh produce to gluten-free baked goods 2-6 p.m. Thursdays at CentraCare Health Plaza – River East parking lot, 1900 CentraCare Circle, St. Cloud. All are welcome to enjoy good food and good company.
The CentraCare Health Family Farmers Market aims to enhance access to nutritious, locally produced food options and provide a wellness-focused forum for area vendors to reach out to the public. The market will feature a community health booth staffed by health care professionals with insights about living more sustainably, healthfully and fully.
“Enlisting community partners becomes integral as the health care industry shifts focus from expensive interventions to education, community outreach and prevention,” said Amy Stolt, RN, cancer care coordinator at the Plaza. “The transition won’t be an easy one, but equipping the public with resources and knowledge is a good place to begin.”
CentraCare’s partnerships with the St. Cloud YMCA and BLEND, among others, are a good start, but the work has just begun. Thursdays through October 15, vendors affiliated with CentraCare’s newest partner in wellness, Sartell’s Market Monday, will offer fresh fruits and vegetables, meats, eggs, herbs, tea and coffee, popcorn, goat products, gluten-free goods, flowers, canned goods, honey, maple syrup, granola, sunflower oil, sunflower-based body care products, specialty breads, sweet treats and more.
