School of Diagnostic Imaging

St. Cloud Hospital’s School of Diagnostic Imaging provides the education needed to become a radiologic technologist (radiographer) for students enrolled in a bachelor's degree program.

The program provides:

  • Optimal clinical experience in a variety of settings
  • Excellent correlation of didactic and clinical instruction
  • The latest equipment available for clinical experiences

The Radiologic Technology Program is offered as a full-time day option only for students completing a baccalaureate degree from affiliated universities.

St. Cloud Hospital School of Diagnostic Imaging is affiliated with Briar Cliff University, St. Cloud State University, North Dakota State University, University of Mary and University of Jamestown.

The Student Handbook contains all the current policies and procedures, in addition to a two-year academic calendar.

The faculty is highly qualified, committed to educating future professionals, and concerned about each student’s professional and personal growth.

The field of radiologic technology offers a challenging and rewarding career opportunity where excellence produces dynamic results.

The students will spend about 40 hours each week in the hospital environment. Part of this time will be spent in the didactic and laboratory setting and part will be in the clinical environment. All students are full time. Clinical assignments are scheduled between 7 a.m. and 10 p.m. and include weekend schedules. Approximately 10 percent of the student’s total clinical clock hours are spent in evening and weekend assignments.

If you have a documented learning, psychological or physical disability, you may be entitled to reasonable academic accommodations or services. To request accommodations or services, contact the Program Director. All students are expected to fulfill essential course requirements. The Program will not waive any essential skill or requirement of a course.

The radiography program sponsored by St. Cloud Hospital has revised its policy, effective May 2016, regarding the placement of students in mammography clinical rotations to observe and/or perform breast imaging.

Under the revised policy, all students, male and female, will be offered the opportunity to participate in mammography clinical rotations. The program will make every effort to place a male student in a mammography clinical rotation if requested; however, the program is not in a position to override clinical setting policies that restrict clinical experiences in mammography to female students. Male students are advised that placement in a mammography rotation is not guaranteed and is subject to the availability of a clinical setting that allows males to participate in mammographic imaging procedures. The program will not deny female students the opportunity to participate in mammography rotations if clinical settings are not available to provide the same opportunity to male students.
