Set aside a Saturday just for you and your labor support person to learn about the basics of labor and delivery FROM START TO FINISH.

Topics covered during the weekend class include:

Labor, Styled Your Way: Discover how your body is preparing for the birth of your child. Learn how to tell if you are in labor, when to come to the hospital and how to be comfortable at home during the early stages of labor. You and your labor support person will take away ideas for enhancing your birth experience.

  • Preparing for labor
  • Labor: what is it exactly?
  • P.A.I.N. and relaxation
  • Labor support role

Your Labor Accessories: Arrive at the big event fully prepared by knowing childbirth comfort measures, pain management options, relaxation techniques and breathing exercises that you can try during active labor. A woman should never leave home without these essentials! This class allows time for PRACTICE of positions and techniques to use in labor along with your labor support person. Please bring along 1-2 pillows to this class because they will be used for relaxation and breathing practice.

The Crowning Event: Embrace this defining life moment and learn more about different positions for pushing, vaginal and cesarean birth, hospital resources for mom and baby and the emotions of being a new parent.

It is highly advised, but not required, that you and your labor support person complete these classes by the 30th week of pregnancy. Please register early to ensure you get into the classes of your choice.

Class will be held at CentraCare Health - Monticello Hospital in Board Room A in the Lower Level.

When attending this class, please park in the main parking lot in front of the emergency entrance. Enter through the emergency entrance and take the stairs or elevator to the lower level.
