UV light decreases healthcare-associated infections
Two Clorox HealthcareTM devices are now being used
at St. Cloud Hospital in all isolation rooms of patients
with intestinal infections to eliminate Clostridium
difficile (C. difficile, or C. diff). The devices are used in
addition to routine manual surface disinfection efforts.
The fight against healthcare-associated infections (HAIs) just got stronger at St. Cloud Hospital. The hospital added two Clorox Healthcare™ Optimum-UV Enlighttm Systems to its infection prevention efforts. The devices use powerful UV technology to eliminate infection-causing pathogens on environmental surfaces.
The Optimum-UV Enlighttm System kills more than 30 pathogens within 8 feet in five minutes.
“Environmental Services is excited to add another tool in the fight to eliminate pathogens and make our hospital a safer place for patients,” said Molly Voigt, Director of Environmental Services (EVS) at St. Cloud Hospital.
The devices are used in addition to routine manual surface disinfection in operating rooms and in the rooms of patients who test positive for Clostridium difficile (C. difficile, or C. diff). EVS plans to expand use of the devices to all contact isolation rooms.
