St. Cloud Hospital earns 100 Top Hospital status for the 10th time

St. Cloud Hospital St. Cloud Hospital has been named a 100 Top Hospital® by Truven Health Analytics,TM for the 10th time, most recently in 2015.

“St. Cloud Hospital is providing exceptionally high-quality care in an efficient manner,” said Craig Broman, St. Cloud Hospital president. “We are performing among the best hospitals in the United States. Nationally, only 14 hospitals have won this award more times than St. Cloud Hospital.”

The only other Minnesota hospital to have achieved Top 100 as many times as St. Cloud Hospital is Mayo Clinic – Rochester Methodist Hospital, Rochester. Of 146 hospitals in Minnesota, three other hospitals recognized in 2016 include:

  • Fairview Northland Medical Center, Princeton
  • Mercy Hospital, Coon Rapids
  • Park Nicollet Methodist Hospital, St. Louis Park

The Truven Health 100 Top Hospitals® study identifies hospitals and leadership teams that provide the highest level of value to their communities, based on a national balanced scorecard. The scorecard measures overall organizational performance across 11 key analytic measures, including patient care outcomes, operational efficiency and financial stability.

Based on the results of this year’s study, if all Medicare inpatients received the same level of care as those treated in the award-winning facilities:

  • Nearly 104,000 additional lives could be saved
  • Nearly 48,400 additional patients could be complication-free
  • More than $2 billion in inpatient costs could be saved
  • The typical patient could be released from the hospital one-half day sooner and would have two percent fewer expenses related to the complete episode of care than the median patient in the U.S.
  • Nearly 245,000 fewer discharged patients would be readmitted within 30 days
  • Patients would spend 10 minutes less in hospital emergency departments per visit

The winning hospitals were announced in the Feb. 28, 2016, edition of Modern Healthcare magazine. More information on this study and other 100 Top Hospitals research is available at 100tophospitals.com.
