St. Benedict's Senior Community Employee Receives State-wide Recognition

Care Providers of Minnesota recognizes Jessica Harstad Rollison at statewide convention

St. Cloud, Minn. – St. Benedict's Senior Community announced that Jessica Harstad Rollison, Therapeutic Recreation/Validation Coordinator, was presented with the Champion Award at a statewide senior care convention held last week in Minneapolis. The Champion Award honors an individual who goes above and beyond to make a positive impact on those who live and work in long-term care.

Jessica first came to St. Benedict’s Senior Community as a volunteer to complete her service learning hours as she worked towards her degree in community psychology. Applying for a position after graduation, Jessica became a fulltime Therapeutic Recreation coordinator on the memory care unit. Jessica went back to school to obtain her master’s degree in gerontology and became certified in dementia care; she also became a validation teacher. Jessica is responsible for dementia training throughout St. Benedict’s Senior Community (SBSC) and coordinates a quarterly support group for the families. She has been able to share her expertise outside of SBSC by doing training for community groups and presenting at conferences throughout the state.

“Jessica has the dedication, passion, and skills to help residents enjoy the special moments of their life as they age,” commented Christine Bakke, Care Center Administrator, St. Benedict's Senior Community. “She is a role model for staff and presents to all audiences a positive image for long-term care.”

Jessica was presented with her award during an awards dinner, which is part of the three-day educational convention for long-term care providers. Presenting the award was Patti Cullen, president and CEO of Care Providers of Minnesota; and Tom Pollock, administrator, Park River Estates Care Center and Board of Director’s Chair, Care Providers of Minnesota.
