St. Cloud Hospital Stroke Center Achieves Recertification

St. Cloud Hospital has been recertified with The Joint Commission’s Gold Seal of Approval™ as a Primary Stroke Center. The St. Cloud Hospital was originally certified May of 2011 after meeting nationally developed standards for stroke care. This achievement recognizes centers that make exceptional efforts to meet the unique and specialized needs of stroke patients and foster better outcomes.

As the only Primary Stroke Center in Central Minnesota, St. Cloud Hospital is able to provide timely, high-quality care and improve outcomes for a person who has had a stroke. Each year about 795,000 people experience a new or recurrent stroke in the, which is the leading cause of serious, long-term disability in the United States and the 4th leading cause of death. On average, someone suffers a stroke every 40 seconds and someone dies from a stroke every 3.1 minutes. If a person is experiencing stroke symptoms, it is important to call 911 to receive timely care and treatment to reduce disability.
